    Fr. Jose Changanacherry S.J.

    Description: Fr. Jose Changanacherry S.J. is the Provincial Superior of the Jesuits in Gujarat. He was formerly teaching Bio-Chemistry in St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad. He is an environmentalist, spiritualist and is leading the Gujarat Jesuits for a second term.

    Prof. A M Shah

    Description: Professor Arvind M. Shah taught sociology for a while in M.S. University of Baroda and then spent most of his life teaching sociology at the department of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. He has been a Fellow and Visiting Fellow in a number of foreign Universities. He has eleven books and 80 articles in professional journals. Recently the All India Sociological Association has bestowed on him the Life- time Achievement award in Sociology. Retired he now lives in Vadodara and continues his intellectual pursuits single-mindedly.

    Prof. Lancy I. Lobo S.J.

    Description: Lancy Lobo, SJ is the Founder Director of the Centre for Culture and Development at Vadodara. Born in Mangalore, Karnataka in 1948, he had his schooling at St. Aloysius High School, Mangalore. He attended Fergusson College, Pune, and holds a BA (Hon) degree in Economics from the University of Poona (now Pune). He pursued post-graduate studies at the Department of Anthropology, University of Delhi, from where he got his M.Sc. degree in anthropology, followed by the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology, both from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. His subject for Ph.D. was Thakors of North Gujarat and he was guided by eminent sociologist Prof. A M Shah of University of Delhi.
    He joined the Jesuits in 1961 and underwent four years of training at Mount Abu, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. After this he studied the philosophy of various religions for three years at Pune. He taught for a year at Nadiad in Gujarat and studied theology for one year at Ahmedabad and two years at New Delhi. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1980.
    He has published over 50 articles in professional and other journals; ten books (3 individually, five jointly and two edited) and scores of mimeographs based on research studies over 30 years. He has been Professor and then Director of Centre for Social Studies, an autonomous institute at Surat, Gujarat, supported by the Central and State governments. He was an International Visiting Fellow at the Woodstock Centre, Georgetown University, Washington DC between 1999 and 2000.

    Prof. Juzer S. Bandukwala

    Description: Professor Juzer S. Bandukwala has taught Physics in M.S. University of Baroda all his life after his doctoral studies in US.A. He has taken keen interest in the cause of the poor be they Dalits, Tribals, OBCs or Muslims. Though retired he has taken up the cause of education among poor Muslims. He is the chairperson of Public Union for Civil Liberties in Vadodara.

    Dr. Stany Pinto S.J.

    Description: Dr. Stany Pinto S.J. after finishing his doctoral studies (sociology) in South Gujarat University has plunged himself in participatory developmental interventions among the Tribals in north Gujarat.

    Description: Dr. Paul D'Souza S.J. having obtained a doctorate from J.N.U in sociology has been engaged in developmental and social interventions among the urban poor in Ahmedabad.

    Description: Dr. Ishanand Vempeny S.J. has a doctoral degree in Indology from the M.S. University. He has been a prolific writer. Based in Ahmedabad all along he was busy furthering the dialogical approach in multi-religious living.L

    Fr. Francis Parmar S.J.

    Description: Fr. Francis Parmar S.J. has specialised in linguistics in U.S.A. and has been principal of St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad for over ten years. He was active in the civil society activities in Ahmedabad. He is now the principal of a new college, viz., St. Xavier's College Patna, Bihar.
